A Malaysian Story Between Nature, Culture, and the Future

The Malaysian land bestowed with its rich resources and strategic location holds one of the oldest rainforests in the world. Malaysian prosperity is derived from its Nature. Malaysia is unique in its diversity of Culture, providing infinite Future potential. The unique relationship between these three core elements is infused and merged into one: The Vessel of Diversity.

The Vessel contains two meanings:
The Vessel is a container, it contains and nurtures the diverse nature, culture, and future of the Malaysian people it encapsulated.
The Vessel also represents a sailing ship. It is in reminiscence to the olden glory day of Malaysia being the center of the main global ship sailing convergence point. The vessel of Malaysia shall sail towards the unity of harmony from Malaysia to Osaka, Japan. After the Expo, the Vessel shall continue its journey, welcoming people all around the world to sail together in our main journey to bring further unity to the world.

Besides the journey of the Vessel to bring unity and harmony to the world, the Vessel also features an internal journey that is fused with remarkable moments and events. This internal journey seeks to leave a lasting impression on the mind and soul of the people it contains. The Malaysian Pavilion is envisioned to provide a whole and complete experience that would weave the people together as one. The heroic and elegant pavilion with its iconic appearance exudes a strong poise on top of natural flower hills, making the pavilion instantly recognizable.

The Vessel of Diversity celebrates the journey of Malaysia which showcases the difference between Nature and Culture, the difference between races and communities, and the difference between tradition and modernity. As the pavilion is interweaved with Culture and supported by Nature, the pavilion shall empower the people to be further interweaved with the Future. The spirit of interwoven that transcends and permeates throughout the pavilion shall continue to inspire unity and harmony across generations of people and shall be the epitome among the whole of nations, setting out a new mission to interweave the earth’s inhabitants as one.
