Planter Island is Halla Holla’s new bakery concept in Kuala Lumpur’s Mid Valley Mall, designed as an oasis within the basement’s artificial environment. Confronting the absence of natural light, the project introduces a massive organic-shaped planter supported by grow-light technology, where greenery and social space merge. Crafted from stacked CNC-cut timber layers, the installation functions as both park furniture and a natural dining backdrop. Reflecting Halla Holla’s philosophy that sourdough is a product of patience and authenticity, the design transforms a typical mall stall into a restorative indoor landscape—offering shoppers a place to pause, connect, and experience bread differently.
