We have lost the street living experience ever since we invented highrise. There is no sense of street or journey within the high rise, as all high rises are designed to be single destinations. The lifestyle of living or working in any high rise building is monotonous, self contained, and physically detached from the outside world. On the contrary, we believe that high rise shall be perceived as an extension of urban living network, rather than an isolated entity. The true experience of a city is all about meandering through the streets, parks, open spaces, and public activities. But how do we integrate the street experience and create a vibrant lifestyle in high rise which forms part of the continuity of the urban living network?
Through applying three following design strategies, the proposed tower is aimed to create a vertical open structure that can contain both conventional programmes such as office, educational institutions or commercial, and outdoor public amenities such as green park, playground, or sports facilities.
